Why is search engine marketing important?
So, why is search engine marketing important? Does it matter if your site is seen by search engines?
Consider this:
- 73% of all online transactions start with search engines
- 91% of all Internet users use search engines.
So if you want to sell, you have to be visible to a search engine, helping the users find your needle in the Internet haystack. If you want to increase both the number of visitors and the quality of visitors (the people who make a purchase, ask for further information or generally do whatever you want them to) then you have to be there when they search for you.
Search engine ranking
Here’s the kicker – if you’re not on the first page of results, then you’re pretty much nowhere.
At a minimum you want to be ranked on the first few pages of the search results. How often do you click through to the third page of search results on Google? OK, maybe occasionally. What about thefourth page? Most people don’t.
You want people carrying out a search for your services and products to find your site. So how do you use search engine marketing (SEM) to get onto the first page of results?
