Features of the Amber CMS include:

One-time entry
The resources for the site, namely;

• images
• documents
• audio/sound files
• web addresses and email addresses

are all stored in banks or libraries so they can be retrieved and used on multiple pages without the need to repeatedly upload the resource each time it is used. Files need only be replaced once and it will take effect wherever it occurs on the site.

Multi-tiered Security
Users are managed via three pre-determined groups, 'Editor', 'Administrator' and 'System Administrator'. Each group consists of a set range of permissions, providing a specific level of access to the CMS and its functionality. Furthermore, multiple users are able to access the system simultaneously.

Ease of Use
The main content for the site can be easily edited using a highly intuitive, simple-to-use editor. Preformatted copy can even be copied and pasted from other applications such as from Microsoft Word.

The editor offers the following set of tools to the user:

• Formatting basic text, i.e. bold, italics and use of pre-stylised headings specifically built for the site
• Images placement within a page
• Resource links to documents and PDFs
• Links to external websites
• Internal HTML content
• Validation of all content against X/HTML guidelines.
• Integrated spell checker

Workflow
This controls which users can edit, review and approve content, thus ensuring that updates are properly reviewed and approved before posting, if necessary.
