More help for Parents

The DfES commissioned Big Picture Interactive to construct the third major release of the ParentsCentre site that has been running since June 2003. Building upon the second release which Big Picture Interactive built the previous year, the process involved constructing a Content Management System (CMS) alongside a significant redesign and reorganisation of the site's structure and content to help Parents find the information they wanted faster.
ParentsCentre is an official Department for Education and Skills (DfES) website for parents and carers. The site aims to act as a reference book for the education system and a provider of information about the myriad issues relevant to parents and their children. The site also aims to direct parents and carers to other sources of information and advice.
The flexible bespoke CMS built by Big Picture Interactive allows the client to easily manage virtually every aspect of the site. The site and the CMS run on a ColdFusion MX and SQL Server platform, making heavy use of Object Orientation
